A Little Bit About Us…
Welcome to the home of Heart Song Himalayans and Persians on the web. We are located in beautiful, coastal Maine. We currently share our home with our two Rottweiler’s (Cora and Eva) , our two rescue cats (Lola and Steve), our Blue Male Persian (Boo Boo), our Seal Point Himalayan Lady Guinevere (aka “Gwenie”) and her two daughters Wheezie and Diva.
My introduction to the purebred cat world began in nursery school in the late 70′s when my mother brought home a seal point Himalayan kitten she was given as partial payment for catering a wedding. It was love at first sight. I named him “Inka “. He was my first purebred, registered cat (it wasn’t until recently I learned how special that Ming Chiu Cattery pedigree behind him was). It didn’t matter to me that my mother was given him because he was the only “doll-faced” cat in his litter, I thought he was the most beautiful thing I had ever seen! He was my shadow and my childhood confidant. He raised our rottweilers and many other cats. Inka passed when I was 21 years old and everyone in our family mourned his loss. When he died he took a little piece of all of our hearts with him.
During my high school and college years I became very deeply involved in animal rescue. Since that time, we have fostered hundreds of cats and dogs through the years but I always said I would once again own a Seal Point Himmy or a Persian. When I decided to take a break from the dog show world for a while I began my search for a new addition to our family. It was during my search that I started to consider the possibilities of showing cats. Coming from the competitive dogs show and dog sport world it seemed at natural transition. I have been officially bit by the “show bug” and am loving every minute of it.
We lovingly raise our cats on a RAW, natural diet with high quality canned for variety. We also use many of the Early Stimulation Techniques that we have used in the dog world for years on our kittens. Our kittens are socialized with both adults and children as well as large dogs and are used to the hustle and bustle of daily living in a busy household. Our kittens and cats are also used to grooming on a regular basis before they leave for their new homes.
We strive to produce kittens who exemplify the breed standard with a focus on QUALITY not QUANTITY. Try as we might, not every kitten is going to be the perfect show cat within the standard. With this in mind we occassionally have wonderful kittens that are available to “pet homes” waiting to be champions of their families hearts.
